MimooPet

A little pixel pet that lives on your desktop, and learns to talk like someone you know.

In development for Windows, with a Steam release planned. Designed and developed by Yaxin Zheng.

The six MimooPets standing in a row: pink, blue, black, green, yellow and purple. They take turns being happy, thinking and falling asleep.
The six pets, idling, cheering, thinking and dozing.

Meet the pets

Six little monsters, each drawn pixel by pixel. Pick one, then dress it up with hair, clothes and accessories.

How it works

Give your pet a conversation, and it picks up the way that person talks.

  1. Import a chat

Export a conversation from WeChat or WhatsApp and hand it to your pet.

  2. Wait a moment

The pet learns how the other person writes, right on your computer. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

  3. Start talking

Chat with it like you would with them. It keeps learning as you talk, so it sounds more like them over time.

Life on your desktop

When you’re not chatting, your pet has a life of its own. It dozes, wanders around your screen and plays. Poke it and it reacts: happy at first, then confused, then annoyed if you keep going.

The pets at the bottom of this page work the same way. Click one to say hello, keep clicking to annoy it, or drag it up and let it go.

How it’s built

Engine
Godot 4 and GDScript. Each pet runs on a state machine for idling, walking, sleeping, reacting and being dragged.
Art
Pixel art in 48 × 48 frames, shown at 3× so every pixel stays crisp.
Language
A small language model bundled with the app and adapted on the player’s own machine. No server, no account, no data leaving the computer.
Platform
Windows first, with a Steam release planned.
